The Inspiration

Born from a love of artisan crafting and a deep love of music, SoapMaking Bride was created by Dr. Datisha Morris, PharmD, a licensed and practicing pharmacist for over 20 years, to bring handmade, premium bath and body products to people who appreciate the finer things in life. We believe great music and great self-care go hand in hand!

Growing up in the 80s and 90s was a masterclass in musical diversity, a journey that began with the physical ritual of analog media and evolved into an obsession that inspired a handmade soap business. It was an era where falling in love with music required patience and effort. You sat by the radio for hours, finger hovering over the record button of a cassette deck, hoping the DJ wouldn’t talk over the intro of your favorite song. The 80s brought a neon-soaked collision of synth-pop, hair metal, and early hip-hop, only to give way to the 90s explosion of grunge, alternative rock, golden-era rap, and Eurodance. Music wasn't just background noise; it was an identity, curated through heavily decorated CD binders, mixtape exchanges with friends, and lyric sheets scanned under bedroom lamplight.

Decades later, that deep-seated obsession found a new canvas: artisan handmade soap. The swirling colors of natural clay powders, the raw textures of botanical exfoliants, and the intoxicating blends of essential oils became a physical way to remix those classic tracks.

From Soundwaves to Soap Bars

Every batch of soap mimics the creative process of writing a song. Combining the lye and oils is the rhythm section—the steady foundation. Choosing the scent profile is the melody, blending top, middle, and base notes just like a perfect chord progression.
